Preparatory actions: verifying backups, inserting maintenance windows to avoid false alarms and suspending applications to preserve data integrity.
Monitoring of activities: continuous monitoring by an operator to assess the progress between the various restarts and ensure their correct completion.
Post-update checks: checking the results and restarting applications stopped during backup operations.
